Water Safety Days
Royal Life Saving Water Safety Days are immersive, hands-on learning experiences that bring communities together in real aquatic environments.

- Drowning remains a leading cause of accidental death in Australia, with inland waterways among the most dangerous environments. Adults often underestimate risks in familiar settings, leading to preventable tragedies.
By providing hands-on learning and real-world scenarios, Water Safety Days bridge the gap between awareness and action. They equip participants with practical knowledge on hazard recognition, emergency response, and resuscitation awareness — skills that save lives.Water Safety Days are community-based events held at local rivers, lakes, and aquatic facilities. Designed as either half-day (3–4 hours) or full-day (6–7 hours) programs, they combine demonstrations, group activities, and interactive learning for adults, families, and community groups.
Facilitated by Royal Life Saving experts, these events are tailored to reflect the risks of the host community, ensuring participants learn not only general safety principles but also how to apply them to their own environments. Content is engaging, inclusive, and designed to encourage participation from all ages.
Each Water Safety Day also includes supporting resources such as fact sheets, posters, and take-home guides that reinforce the key safety messages. These materials extend the impact of the program by providing lasting reminders that can be shared within families and communities long after the event concludes.Water Safety Days empower communities to be more confident and capable around water while building a stronger culture of safety.
