Service Overview

Our safety assessment services deliver a structured, evidence-based review of your facility, operations, and safety systems. Each assessment is conducted by trained specialists using Royal Life Saving’s nationally recognised frameworks and tools.

Assessments identify hazards, evaluate current controls, benchmark performance against industry standards, and provide clear, practical recommendations to support continuous improvement. Services can be delivered as stand-alone assessments or combined into a comprehensive safety review tailored to your organisation’s needs.

First Aid Assessments

We evaluate first aid facilities, equipment, and staff preparedness against the First Aid in the Workplace Code of Practice and aquatic industry best practice. This ensures your facility is compliant, well-equipped, and ready to respond effectively to incidents.

Inland Waterway Safety Assessment

We assess rivers, lakes, and dams to identify hazards, signage needs, and community use patterns. These assessments provide practical, evidence-based recommendations to reduce drowning risks and improve safety at natural waterways.

Supervision Risk Assessment

Royal Life Saving evaluates lifeguard staffing, positioning, and supervision zones to ensure safe and effective coverage of aquatic facilities. Our assessments identify blind spots and risks, helping managers align with the Guidelines for Safe Pool Operations (GSPO).

Mystery Guest Assessment

The Royal Life Saving Mystery Guest Program provides aquatic facilities with confidential assessments by trained evaluators to enhance operational standards and ensure optimal safety and service quality.

Aquatic Facility Safety Assessment

The Royal Life Saving Aquatic Facility Safety Assessment (AFSA) is a comprehensive analysis of the policies, procedures, operations and activities of a public or commercial aquatic facility. The AFSA is the easiest and most effective way

Signage Assessment

Royal Life Saving reviews the placement, visibility, and clarity of safety and directional signage across facilities and waterways. Our assessments ensure signage meets national standards, communicates key risks, and supports safe patron behaviour.

Facility Design Assessment

Royal Life Saving provides expert input on the design of new or refurbished aquatic facilities to embed safety, supervision, and accessibility from the start. Our assessments reduce costly redesigns and ensure facilities are safe, efficient, and inclusive.
