ROYAL LIFE SAVING


This course equips participants with the skills and knowledge to recognise and respond to cardiac emergencies through the application of CPR and safe use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). It is designed to meet workplace compliance requirements and build community confidence in life-saving response.
Key content includes:
Recognising cardiac arrest
Performing single- and two-rescuer CPR
Use of an AED
Managing an unconscious casualty
Infection control and safe manual handling in CPR scenarios
Chain of survival and emergency response principles

This course is suitable for individuals requiring CPR training for workplace compliance, as well as parents, carers, and community members who want to feel confident in responding to cardiac emergencies. It is also highly recommended for those working in health, sport, education, and childcare settings.
The CPR course takes approximately 2–3 hours to complete. This includes around one hour of self-paced online learning, followed by a face-to-face practical assessment lasting one to two hours.
There are no formal prerequisites for this course.
Participants must, however, be physically capable of performing uninterrupted CPR on a manikin placed on the floor for at least two minutes.
The minimum age for enrolment is 14 years (or turning 14 within the calendar year of the course).
- Participants are required to complete the online pre-learning before attending the face-to-face session. The practical assessment involves demonstrating CPR techniques, the safe use of an AED, and effective emergency response. To be deemed competent, learners must demonstrate uninterrupted CPR on a manikin placed on the floor for a minimum of two minutes.
On successful completion of this course you will be issued a statement of attainment in:
HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
The SafeWork Australia model Code of Practice: First Aid in the Workplace and the Australian Resuscitation Council recommend that first aid skills are renewed every three years, and resuscitation skills (HLTAID009/HLTAID015) are renewed every 12 months.
