ROYAL LIFE SAVING


This course provides participants with the essential skills and knowledge to respond to a range of first aid situations, including life-threatening emergencies. It is suitable for workplace compliance, personal development, or for anyone wishing to feel confident in providing immediate and effective first aid.
Key content includes:
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
Use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
Managing unconscious casualties
Bleeding and wound care
Burns, fractures, sprains, and strains
Medical emergencies (asthma, anaphylaxis, seizures, diabetes, etc.)
Shock and infection control
Basic emergency life support and incident management

This course is designed for individuals who need first aid certification to meet workplace compliance, as well as community members who want to build confidence in responding to emergencies. It is also suitable for organisations aiming to meet WHS first aid requirements, and for students and young people aged 14 years and above who are seeking valuable life skills.
Approximately 12 hours total:
Pre-Course Online Learning: ~6 hours
Face-to-Face Practical Assessment: ~6 hours
There are no formal prerequisites.
Participants must be able to demonstrate CPR on the floor for at least 2 minutes.
Minimum age: 14 years (or turning 14 in the calendar year of the course).
- Participants are required to complete the online pre-course learning before attending the face-to-face session. During the practical assessment, they must demonstrate competence across a range of first aid scenarios, including CPR, AED use, and incident management. Successful completion of both the theory and practical components is necessary to achieve certification.
On successful completion of this course you will be issued a Statement of Attainment in:
HLTAID009 – Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
HLTAID010 – Provide basic emergency life support
HLTAID011 – Provide first aid
The Safe Work Australia model Code of Practice: First Aid in the Workplace and the Australian Resuscitation Council recommend that:
First aid skills are renewed every three years
Resuscitation skills (HLTAID009 / HLTAID015) are renewed every 12 months
