    This is a secondary school student award. Holders of this award are not trained or qualified to attempt any form of contact rescue involving conscious persons in deep water


    Aim


    To develop skills and knowledge of safe water rescue and survival


    Prerequisite


    Nil


    Theory

    Answer questions on:

    • Safe Water Practices

    • How to survive in the water

    • Self preservation in rescues

    • Recognising an emergency

    • Assessment before and during a rescue

    • Priorities for rescue


    Resuscitation Awareness


    Practical Water Tests

    • Throw a Lifejacket to a person in difficulty 6 metres from safety

    • Throw an unweighted rope to a person in difficulty 10 metres from safety
