01 ABOUT THE CAMPAIGN
Background
At Royal Life Saving, we believe every Australian should be able to enjoy a water way of life — regardless of age, experience or background. Being active in, on or around the water is one of the best ways to stay healthy, connected and confident throughout life. From swimming and aqua exercise to kayaking, walking by the water or simply enjoying time outdoors, aquatic recreation supports physical, mental and social wellbeing.
The Active Adults campaign encourages older Australians to remain active and continue enjoying the benefits of movement for life. Research from the Australian Sports Commission shows many older adults are not achieving recommended activity levels. At the same time, drowning risks for older Australians continue to rise, particularly for those aged 65 years and over. Staying active helps improve strength, balance and mobility, reducing the risk of falls near water and supporting safer participation in aquatic environments.
CAMPAIGN MESSAGE
