World Drowning Prevention Day

Anyone can drown. No one should.

01 ABOUT THE CAMPAIGN

Background

World Drowning Prevention Day is a global day of action led by the United Nations to highlight drowning as a serious but preventable public health issue. It brings countries, communities and organisations together to raise awareness, share solutions, and promote practical strategies that reduce drowning deaths around the world.

Drowning impacts people of all ages and occurs in high, middle and low-income countries alike. By promoting swimming skills, safer environments, disaster resilience, child supervision, and community education, World Drowning Prevention Day reminds us that coordinated action can save thousands of lives every year.
